The beauty of poetry is there is something/someone for everyone’s taste.
I share with you today Frank O’Hara, an American “beat” poet. I connect so well to his words because like him, I write about my life as it happen. Perhaps one day I’ll post some of my words here, but until then here are a couple of Frank’s I think many can relate to.
“Now I am quietly waiting for the catastrophe of my personality to seem beautiful again, and interesting, and modern.”
― Frank O’Hara, Meditations in an Emergency
Here is a love poem so raw and beautiful in all it’s simplicity:
ANIMALS
Have you forgotten what we were like then
when we were still first rate
and the day came fat with an apple in its mouth
it’s no use worrying about Time
but we did have a few tricks up our sleeves
and turned some sharp corners
the whole pasture looked like our meal
we didn’t need speedometers
we could manage cocktails out of ice and water
I wouldn’t want to be faster
or greener than now if you were with me O you
were the best of all my days

“we could manage cocktails out of ice and water” …so clear and perfect…the simplicity of honest Love…
will be obtaining some soon
Peace ☮
That line is amazing in the poem..
Clear, honest love is a rarity!
Thx for stopping by WCG!
The quote from Meditations in an Emergency is amazing! I think I shall be off looking him up as soon as I can, his poetry rings so true
I have a friend from FB (not there anymore only sporadic visits) and he finds the best quotes & writers..
Thanks Will C. for introducing him to me and now me to you
My wish for you:
So blow the winds into our lives
and last longer than despair’s sharp snake
crushed before it conquered
so marvellous is not just a poet’s greenish namesake
and we live outside his garden in our tempestuous rights.
– Frank O’Hara
