Taking it to the street

The Beginning:

A year ago this month I had an idea.
What would happen if I put together small booklets of poetry and gave them away to people for free. I saw writing as a way to connect people and we all like free things. So from an idea and with the support of hundreds of writers (Thank you Facebook) the  non-profit take-it-to-the-street-poetry organization was born.

Hundreds of booklets (there were 7 volumes in the initial distribution) were mailed worldwide and thus the game was on. Force Fed volumes (the name of the first set of booklets) were dropped any and everywhere:

In Bookstores:

They replaced curbside flyers:

Drive-through clerks were given one:

They were left in diners:

A homeless couple was treated to lunch and some poetry:

Since that time, tittsp (take-it-to-the-street-poetry) has printed over 20 volumes of poetry & art by more than 600 contributing writers and artists and the beat continues.

The Middle:

I changed the volume name from “Force Fed” to “The Nexuss” which means the connection (and varied the spelling because, well, I can).

One year later, we are growing larger than even I dreamed possible:

Touching lives that have never been exposed to poetry/arts:

The doors at tittsp are always open, will always remain free for distribution and I am excited to see what the next year will bring. And on that note I leave you with a short video of snapshots of the drops.

Viva la poetry!!!
