I have not written many poems this year, been busy trying to get all my “loose” words in order.
I have not, nor will I ever call myself a “Poet”. I am someone who tosses words on paper and hope they make sense upon landing. Here is an older piece of mine.
law #126
with cigarette in left hand
coffee cup in the other
and winter winds
blowing loose hair,
my head leans just far enough
into this thought i cannot ignore
sometimes people get away and
the failure isn’t ours,
we only have to love them
that is our human assignment.
Poetry…..more please~ smile.
I think come winter I will be more focused to write some new pieces.. (hopeful )
Thank you!!
I can feel it. Your words brought the scene and the thought to life. Great work, thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much.. very nice thing to say!!
There is truth in that one.
I only write the truth
danke schön, lynne. this is so apropos to what’s going on in my life right now it’s uncanny.
Mike- I picked up my notebokk and let it fall and this was the poem.. no fooling.. Head up, eyes forward, ok?
Beautiful words! Your are a poet!
Thank you Karen, I’m really just a word scribbler though
I really love this, Lynne. That is indeed, our human assignment. (I’d like to add that some people make it VERY hard to to complete the assignment! haha!)
Oh boy, who are you telling.. Sometimes it’s VERY hard..lol
Thanks so much!!
What M.P. Powers said.
Then I’ll tell you what I told him, “head up, eyes forward…”

thank you so kindly for sharing …It’s really not a “big” poem, but it does say something to many of us!
You are a poet!
You just don’t know it!
I know no such thing
‘human assignment’ was my favorite part. I loved the whole poem.
Thanks Sandee!!
Wow, this made me feel all nicey-nice inside. I wonder though, why #126.
Thx Jon.. Ah, 126 just came to me .. no particular reason, could be # 2.5..lol
I like this older piece of your Madame Poet
Thank you very much !!
Lynne, your poem is very good. I hope you’ll share more.
Thanks Brigitte.. I need to write more, been blogging and such
I’m glad you shared this, I think it’s great…and I hope you start writing more often.
Thanks Lily.. I’m planning on that come winter.. write, write & write some more!!
Mmmm. The scene and the thought, the image and the truth, and the ambiguities around “the failure”- Thank you.
Thank you so much for reading
downwind
we extract an essence
milk-sap knowledge
often spilled
at our feet,
sweet surrender
and languid leaves of chance
blowing us away

Thanks so much for sharing (geez, make me blush)
Reblogged this on A Dog With Fleas and commented:
wworWords escape me today, and I came across this poem from a great blogger that just captured my heart and my thoughts exactly!!
I really liked this piece. I hope you continue to blog more. Your words are fascinating and draw you in.
You are very kind in your comment and I thank you!
Human Assignment….perfect.
Thank you so very, very much!
isn’t that what poetry is? Just throwing them out there? Well done and I love it…get crackin’ some more
ha, Love that “get cracking”..I’ll do my best
and you best will be fantastical I am sure
First of all, this starts out so visually provoking. And then it gets profoundly emotional.
What an assignment we have.
I hope you are inspired to write more poems like this.
Thank you Teresa, it is our assignment as humans to care even when it seems impossible.!
Simple, yet profound. As is life itself.
I really enjoyed this, so happy to have found you.
~ Christy
Thank you so much Christy.. That means alot and I do appreciate your nice words
Lynne
You’re quite welcome. Have a wonderful day! I’ll be reading…
yes, this is the human assignment. not an easy one. give us one more!
Thanks so much! I try although it’s not easy at times..
Very impressive dear! Im transported! Excellent ~ Blessings friend ~Deborah
Really enjoyed this. I read it without the the word “human” in the last line and for me it keeps a better pace. Don’t mean to be picky ‘n’ all………you should hear me at our Book Club !!
Well done.
Not picky at all.. I love critique and you are correct, it works well without “human”
thank you kindly sir
(PS. I only said that because I know you can take it. )
Of course, after all they are only words
Coffee and cigarettes huh? A bad habit to break……… of mine. Oooops
Mine too although I smoke less and less each month, but give up coffee? Nevah!!
High Five!

Have to think love is letting go at times… and encouraging freedom. Lovely poem. Haiku in its brevity. More…
More people need to follow this philosophy…
thank you so kindly!!
